Após meses de expectativa dos amantes da música, a MTV finalmente revelou sua lista de indicados para o 2021 Video Music Awards em Nova York. “Os #VMAs estão de volta e os prêmios Moonperson estão prontos,” MTV News anunciou no Twitter na quarta-feira. Liderando o grupo está o superstar pop Justin Bieber, que recebeu sete indicações ao VMA. O talentoso artista foi indicado nas categorias de Artista do Ano, Vídeo do Ano, Melhor Direção para “POPSTAR”, Melhor Canção Pop, Melhor Edição e Melhor Colaboração com “Peaches”.

A rapper Megan Thee Stallion aparece logo atrás com seis indicações, incluindo Vídeo do ano e Melhor colaboração por seu single “WAP”, com quem ela colaborou com Cardi B. A texana de 26 anos também alcançou a segunda indicação consecutiva de “Melhor Canção de Hip Hop” por seu trabalho em “On Me (The Remix)”, de Lil Baby. Enquanto isso, um número colossal de oito artistas aparecem com cinco indicações cada: Billie Eilish, BTS, Doja Cat, Drake, Giveon, Lil Nas X e Olivia Rodrigo.

Biebs e Thee Stallion vão disputar o prêmio de Artista do Ano com Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo e Taylor Swift. Na categoria videoclipe do ano, junto com “POPSTAR” e “WAP”, estará “Kiss Me More” de Doja Cat ft. SZA, “Bad Habits” de Ed Sheeran, “Montero” de Lil Nas X e “Save Your Tears” do The Weeknd.

Os VMAs de 2021 estão programados para 12 de setembro, no Barclays Center em Brooklyn, Nova York. O programa de premiação irá ao ar simultaneamente na CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, VH1 e The CW Network.
