Meek Mill e a gravadora Atlantic Records não estiveram em bons momentos
Meek Mill fez um discurso sobre o tratamento da Atlantic Records com seus artistas no Twitter, terça-feira. O rapper da Filadélfia diz que a gravadora deliberadamente colocou uma pressão em seu relacionamento com Roddy Ricch e Rick Ross. “Então, olhe, eu fiz centenas de sons na Atlantic e deixei eles mandarem em mim. Roddy, um artista que eles procuraram na prisão pelo seu talento… Eles ainda dizem que eu não posso lançar novas músicas até completar 9 meses depois que meu último álbum foi liberado”, escreveu Mill em seu primeiro tweet.
Ele explicou: “Essa ação da gravadora separou eu e Roddy instantaneamente quando os milhões vieram dele… a mesma coisa que eles tentaram fazer comigo e Rozay…Tudo isso por causa de dinheiro”. Mill não foi o único artista a discordar da Atlantic na terça-feira. No início do dia, o NBA YoungBoy postou uma declaração em sua página da comunidade do YouTube, chamando a gravadora de boicotar seu novo álbum, Colors.
Mill acrescentou um apelo à ação para outros artistas se manifestarem contra ações manipuladoras: “Se eu não tivesse milhões, provavelmente faria algo louco… e diga a verdade enquanto você está ganhando, todos estão bem com você, agora quando você está para baixo, tudo fica diferente!”
Ainda neste fim de semana, o rapper anunciou que lançaria novas músicas “sem nenhuma gravadora envolvida” com a intenção de usar a maior margem de lucro para reinvestir em seu bairro na Filadélfia.
“Nenhuma grande gravadora … Então toda vez que eu ganho dinheiro de verdade com música… eu invisto um milhão no meu bairro… fora do fluxo’”, escreveu ele. O rapper mais tarde disse que usaria uma plataforma de NFTs para lançarem novas músicas. “Qual plataforma com blockchain está pronta para música… Posso fazer uma plataforma para minha música?????? Pergunta séria???”, ele tuitou.
