A premiação foi originalmente marcada para 29 de março finalmente aconteceu. 

De forma totalmente virtual, aconteceu o IHeartRadio Music Awards de 2020. A edição virtual que aconteceu devido a pandemia de Coronavírus, saiu com Billie Eilish como a artista com mais prêmios – quatro – seguida por Luke Combs e Post Malone com três cada; e Lizzo, DaBaby, Drake, BTS, Swae Lee, Shaed e Banda Los Sebastianes com dois cada.

Os prêmios, homenageando os artistas e músicas mais tocadas nas estações iHeartRadio e no app iHeartRadio ao longo de 2019, foram originalmente programados para acontecer em 29 de março no Shrine Auditorium em Los Angeles. Usher foi escalado para hospedar a transmissão da Fox, mas as restrições do COVID-19 frustraram esse plano. Em 16 de março, iHeart adiou o show. Em 24 de agosto, cancelou o evento e anunciou o plano de revelar os vencedores no fim de semana do Dia do Trabalho.

Na parte de Hip Hop, Drake foi eleito com artista Hip Hop do ano, enquanto Death Race For Love de Juice Wrld foi eleito o álbum de hip hop do ano. “No Guindance” de Chris Brown e Drake foi eleita a melhor música de RnB de 2019, enquanto DaBaby foi o ‘melhor novo artista’.
